CIPC Notice 46 of 2024: Delays in processing re-instatement applications (form COR40.5) and common causes for non-processing

Published: 10 July 2024

The Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) announces delays in processing re-instatement applications due to high volumes and multiple submissions. Customers are urged to follow document and process requirements to avoid further delays.

Please note:
The mailbox re-instatements@cipc.co.za is dedicated only to re-instatement applications (Form CoR40.5 and court orders). Do not send general enquiries or other applications to this address.
Incorrectly sent enquiries and multiple submissions slow down processing times.

For enquiries, refer to the notice CIPC enquiries system not available – alternative processes (March 19, 2024) to ensure your query reaches the correct department.

To minimise rejection or delays:
Ensure sufficient funds (R200) are available in the customer code on the COR40.5 form.
Make sure the customer code is clear and legible.
Submit all attachments in PDF format within a single email.
Attach good quality, legible scans.
Include a valid mandate if submitted by a representative.
Provide proof that the company or close corporation was in business or had economic value (e.g., bank statements, deed search, intellectual property registrations).

Ensure your application meets all requirements before submitting to re-instatements@cipc.co.za.

After processing confirmation, file all outstanding Annual Returns, Beneficial Ownership Declarations, and Financial Statements
