CIPC Notice 36 of 2024: Delay in processing re-instatement applications and responding to re-instatement enquiries

Published: 30 April 2024

Reference is made to CIPC Notice 9 of 2024. The Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) provides an update on the delay in processing re-instatement applications (Form CoR 40.5). High volumes of new applications and unintentional resubmissions are causing continued delays.

The CIPC has indexed all incoming applications and is now focusing on finalizing those in the capturing queue. Customers should expect the following delays:

• Company and Close Corporation re-instatement applications: 15 working days from the date of tracking.
• Company and Close Corporation re-instatement enquiries: 15 working days from the date of receipt at enqreinstatements@cipc.co.za.

Customers are advised not to resend applications or copy reinstatements@cipc.co.za when making enquiries. This can create duplicate applications and further delays. Instead, send re-instatement enquiries and follow-ups directly to enqreinstatements@cipc.co.za to avoid additional delays.
