How to file beneficial ownership

The CIPC has announced the promulgation of the amendments to the Companies Act 71 of 2008, as amended. The amendments of the Companies Act give the CIPC a mandate to request companies to file and update Beneficial Ownership information, as and when applicable.

Companies are required to file their beneficial ownership information to the CIPC by 1 October 2023.

The following documents are required when filing your beneficial ownership (available as part of the below process):
Mandate to Lodge - Beneficial Ownership
Register of Beneficial Owners
Register of Shareholders
Verified/Certified ID/Passport for each beneficial owner

How to file beneficial ownership with InfoDocs

Step 1: Go to the Shareholders tab and create a share register.





Step 2: Once you have created a share register, go to the Dashboard tab and click File Beneficial Ownership.



Step 3: Check the beneficial ownership information is correct. Once happy, select Next.



Step 4: You will be taken to a pop-up where you can download the supporting documents to be signed. Click Submit to CIPC to submit your beneficial ownership information to CIPC.



Step 5: You will receive an email with the supporting documents. Once those documents have been signed, send them to the email address linked in the email InfoDocs sent you.

Step 6: Success! You have submitted your beneficial ownership information to CIPC.
