InfoDocs currently has limited support for non-profit companies, specifically the ability to store and manage member records.
Estimated reading time: 1 minute 30 seconds
We are constantly looking for ways to expand our support for company and other entity types. Currently, our support for non-profit companies (NPCs) is limited as you are unable to store and manage member records on InfoDocs.
A non-profit company (NPC) is a company incorporated for public benefit or an objective(s) relating to cultural, social, communal or group interests as set out in its memorandum of incorporation (MOI).
Its income is not distributed to the shareholders or members like that of a private company (PTY) or close corporation (CC) but must instead be used solely to advance the purpose for which it was created.
An NPC and a non-profit organisation (NPO) are not the same thing.
An NPC is a type of company registered with the CIPC while an NPO is a non-governmental organisation (NGO), community-based organisation (CBO) or faith-based organisation (FBO) registered with the Department of Social Development (DSD).
An NPC can be registered with the CIPC and can be incorporated with or without members.
An NPO can be registered with the DSD NPO website.
