# What is the definition of a company secretary?

1. A company secretary means a natural person, a juristic person, or a partnership that is appointed to hold the office of the company secretary who has the requisite knowledge of or experience in Laws and is a permanent resident in the Republic of South Africa and remains so while serving in the capacity of company secretary and who provides professional corporate governance services to the board of directors of a company.
